The Sierra Club is inspired by nature and engulfs 700,000 of your friends and neighbors. It protects the planet and communities
around the world. It is America's oldest and largest environmental organization. The Sierra Club works to protect the health
of our environment and the preserve of our remaining wild places.
The Sierra Club was founded in 1892 by founder John Muir.
Some of its' main accomplishments since then are:
*establishment of Yosemite and Yellowstone national parks
* enactment of the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act
* national monument status for Utah's Grand Staircase-Escalante
* Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act designating more than 100 million acres of parks, wildlife refuges,
and wilderness areas
It's mission is to : explore and enjoy the earth, this club wants the average person to love nature so that it can treat
it better and help conserve and preserve it.
Members are deeply involved with nature everyday and feel close to nature in ways never thought possible. Nature can inspire
the average person.

There are more than 330 outings available each year from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada to whale watching in Hawaii; from
trekking in Nepal to bird watching in Brazil.
Two important actions Sierra Club volunteers can take from the comfort of their home are writing letters and making phone
calls to support environmental protection.
Sierra Club Books has published more than 700 titles and sold more than 14 million books and calendars since its inception.

may have with the way nature is treated around us.
The Sierra Student Coalition is the largest, most influential student environmental group in the country. If you are a
